Health Data Content and Structure

Course Prerequisite: RDG 0750 or appropriate placement scores Health Data Content and Structure presents an overview of healthcare delivery and examines the role of various providers and disciplines throughout the continuum of healthcare services and the information system policies and procedures required by national health information initiatives. Emphasis is placed on the origin, use, content, and format of health records; storage and retrieval systems, numbering and filing systems, record retention procedures, and the basic functions of the health information division such as abstracting, incomplete chart control, and release of information accreditation and licensure standards applicable to health records.
