Introduction to UNIX/Linux

An introduction to Linux, a variant of UNIX. Linux is a leading operating system on servers and mainframe computers. It is used in the areas of website development, programming, supercomputing, system administration and open source software. This course can be used as foundation for a certification exam. Topics include remote login, standards, file system structure, file permissions and operations, pipe and command utilities such as find and grep, UNIX shells, shell scripts, processes (users and kernel), Linux internals and text editors. Students will design and develop simple Web pages.
